A STUDY OF CHALLENGES FACED BY REGULATORY AUTHORITIES FOR IMPLEMENTING HEALTH AND SAFETY COMPLIANCE IN THE GHANA CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY CONTEXT

In general, the construction industry is one of world’s occupational settings that has high incidents fatalities and injury rates. Developing countries, Ghana inclusive are faced with much more challenges to effective management health safety due increasing rate industrialization weak framework. The study aims investigate by regulatory authorities. adopted a quantitative approach collect data using survey. findings indicated Regulatory Institutions (RIs) like; lack comprehensive national OHS policy, supervision inability prosecute companies who violate standards, adequate resources on-site, logistics, well-defined framework for regulating standards. It recommended government adequately resourced effectively carry out their mandate significantly reduce risk accidents on sites.
